Baguio Trip with my Picanto

After more than 2 years of owning a Kia Picanto, I got a chance of driving all through Baguio City last November 27. I chose to use Kenon Road going up to Baguio and my Picanto's engine really handled the steep parts of the road easily. :)

Hi< I am planning to buy a 2nd hand Picanto. just sold my city. I am eyeing this 96 model, but i am worried regarding the "check engine" light is still lit even the key is set in "on" for several seconds. the seller informs me na mawawala lang yung ilaw sa "check engine" once na ma-start na. Well nawala naman yung ilaw nung start ko na siya.

I am coming kase from a honda where I wait for the check engine light to turn off before I push the key to "ignition"

My question.. is that normal? The check engine is lighted up to ignition part, and only turns off once the engine is already running.

Tnx
